Our visiting therapists offer everything from full body massage and reflexology to facials, manicures and beauty treatments, allowing you to enjoy a true spa experience without ever leaving the Estate. 

 

For those seeking something rather more invigorating, our woodland Nature Spa offers a uniquely Scandinavian-inspired experience. Alternate between the warmth of the wood-fired sauna and the crystal-clear natural plunge pool hidden amongst the trees before returning to the Lodge refreshed, revitalised and completely relaxed. 

 

Explore Exmoor at Your Own Pace

 

Few landscapes in Britain are as captivating as Exmoor.

 

From the front door of the Lodge you can set off on peaceful walks through ancient woodland, across open moorland or around the Estate's own historic parkland. Longer guided hikes can also be arranged deeper into the National Park for those wishing to discover dramatic coastlines, hidden valleys and spectacular panoramic views. Maps, refreshments and transport can all be arranged by the Lodge team. 

 

For guests who prefer to cover more ground, our fleet of electric bicycles provides one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the surrounding countryside. Carefully planned routes take in picturesque villages, traditional country pubs and some of Exmoor's finest scenery, allowing you to discover the landscape entirely at your own pace. 

 

Should you wish to venture further afield, we can organise private tours to some of the West Country's most celebrated destinations, including Dunster Castle, Porlock Bay, Lynton, Lynmouth and the spectacular Valley of Rocks. 

 

Equestrian Experiences

 

Horses have always been part of life at Bittescombe.

 

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rider, our equestrian team can tailor an experience to suit your confidence and ability. Enjoy peaceful hacks through the Estate, private tuition in the arena or venture onto the open moor where Exmoor reveals some of its most spectacular scenery from horseback.

 

For something rather different, guests can also experience the excitement of polo. With expert tuition available throughout the year, beginners can learn the fundamentals of this exhilarating sport whilst experienced riders can continue to develop their skills under professional guidance. 

 

The Waters of Exmoor

 

Water has always shaped both the landscape and the sporting traditions of Exmoor.

 

Guests can enjoy peaceful trout fishing on the Estate's own ponds, choosing either fly fishing or traditional tackle. Those fortunate enough to land supper can even ask our chefs to prepare their catch that evening, creating one of the freshest dining experiences imaginable. 

 

For those seeking a day on the coast, offshore fishing adventures can also be arranged just thirty minutes from the Lodge. Accompanied by experienced local skippers and the Bittescombe hospitality team, guests can enjoy a memorable day targeting bass, rays, cod and many other species before returning to the Lodge with stories—and perhaps dinner—to share.

Not every memorable moment requires an itinerary.

 

Many guests choose simply to spend the day within the comfort of the Lodge itself.

 

Watch a favourite film in the private cinema with freshly made popcorn, enjoy an afternoon around the full-size snooker table, lose yourselves in classic board games or simply relax with a book beside the fire whilst the chefs prepare dinner.
