Estate Dining at Bittescombe

A memorable day at Bittescombe Estate doesn't end with the final drive. It continues around the table, where exceptional food, warm hospitality and the finest local ingredients bring everyone together to relive the day's sport.

At the heart of the lodge is our talented in-house chef, whose passion lies in showcasing the incredible produce found on the estate and across Exmoor. Every menu celebrates the changing seasons, drawing inspiration from the landscape that surrounds us and the abundance it provides.

Venison harvested from the estate features prominently throughout the year, prepared with care and respect for the quality of the wild meat. Alongside it are game birds from the shoot, estate-reared produce, foraged ingredients, and vegetables sourced from trusted local growers. Just a short drive away, the rugged North Devon coastline provides an outstanding selection of fresh seafood, from hand-dived scallops and native lobster to line-caught fish and shellfish landed daily, allowing our chef to create menus that reflect the very best of land and sea.

Whether it's a hearty breakfast before the guns depart, an elegant elevenses spread in the field, a relaxed lunch overlooking the valley, or a beautifully prepared dinner in the lodge, every meal is crafted with the same attention to detail that defines the sporting experience itself.

Menus evolve with the seasons and can be tailored to individual preferences, celebrating everything from traditional country house favourites to refined modern British cuisine. Estate venison may be served alongside freshly landed turbot, Exmoor lamb, locally produced cheeses, artisan breads and desserts inspired by the orchards, hedgerows and woodlands that surround Bittescombe.

For those staying at the lodge, dining becomes an integral part of the experience. Evenings are spent gathered around the table, sharing stories from the day over thoughtfully prepared dishes and carefully selected wines in an atmosphere that is relaxed, welcoming and unmistakably West Country.

At Bittescombe Estate, great food is far more than a meal. It is a celebration of the estate, its landscape, its wildlife and the remarkable produce that makes this corner of Somerset one of Britain's finest culinary destinations.
